Word plugin 'communicating with Zotero' error

Freshly installed Sync Preview and the MS Word plugin from the Sync Preview site. Firefox was started and not in offline mode, as I see that's a pretty common problem if it is. Upon attempting to import a citation it gives the 'communicating with Zotero please make sure Firefox is running' error.
Word 2007, Firefox 3.0.4, Zotero 1.5 Sync 3.4, Zotero Word Plugin 1.0b4. Submitted an error report, code 735469653

    Upgrade to Sync Preview 3.5.

    Same problem as mgctim. Cannot upgrade to 3.5 because link (in: Install Zotero 1.5 Sync Preview add-on) connects to 3.4

    i had the same problem, resolved it like this:
    * copy (overwrite) the new version of the Zotero extension to your word startup folder
    * start word, make a new document
    * open the old document and copy everything
    * paste it into the new document - it should work now (at least in my case).
    * save the new document under the same name as the old one, ready...

    Download link is fixed (though you can always upgrade to the latest available version (if it hasn't yet prompted you) from Tools->Add-ons->Find Updates).
