syncing personal library with a group library

Hey,
I am rather new on Zotero. I entered in my personal library a large number of references and some pdfs. I want to share all of it with a few people in the same lab, so I created a group. Is there a way to share all of my personal library at once? (references and PDFs)

thank you!
  • Hey, I've got the same question/problem and can't find a way to sync group data with my library.
  • You would just drag-drop the references you want to share from your personal library into your group library. You have to do this in a local client (Zotero Standalone or Zotero for Firefox), not online at zotero.org
  • Thanks, but by editing a new entry in my group, how can I sync this entry in my library without drag-drop it manually?

You can't. Items in group library are distinct from items in your personal library. You can, of course, delete the item in your personal library and drag-drop it into your personal library (note that deleting an item that was inserted into a document would break the link between the metadata in your library and the document). In the future there may be a way to avoid having to delete the item before hand, but I don't think item metadata will ever be synced between group and personal libraries. If you think about it, it's probably undesirable to do this, since you wouldn't want other people (in your group) editing metadata in your personal library.

Edit: oh, but if it's a new item, then drag-and-drop is the only way and I'm not sure how else you would expect to "sync" these items. Create a collection that is linked between group and personal libraries?
