Change in-text citation for AMA style

I am using American Medical Association as my style. I need to change my in-text citation style from a number to (author et al, year)
Help in this would be greatly appreciated

You should look at one of the author-date styles. There are many -- APA, etc.

in particular, there's a Vancouver (author-date) style, which should be a close fit, https://zotero.org/styles?q=%20Springer%20Vancouver%20%28author-date%29 -- Vancouver isn't exactly AMA, but quite close.
