Injury extra citation style needs modification

I am in process of submission to Injury Extra. When I used the CSL for the mentioned journal I noticed that it doesn't corresponds to author's guidance. I will be grateful if someone can make the requisite changes.
1. References to appear as superscript in text, whereas presently it appears in brackets
2. The titles of journals should be abbreviated as in Index Medicus. If there are four or fewer authors, they should all be listed; if there are five or more, the first three authors should be listed, followed by et al.
3. The references should be listed in the reference section in alphabetical order and numbered in alphabetical sequence.
Kind Regards
Farhan

You are correct about the superscript in the instructions. However, in both the html and pdf versions reference numbers are in square brackets.
  • Hi
I have a question about the Index Medicus Stlye. The journal where I am going to publish my paper wants to have the Medicus Style.

"References should be listed and journal titles abbreviated according to the style used by Index Medicus; examples are given below."
    Examples of journal references:
Castonguay TW, Dallman MF, Stern JS. Some metabolic and behavioural effects of adrenalectomy in obese Zucker rats. Am J Physiol 1986; 251: R923-R933.

Zotero has no medikus style. How can I get the style or is there a similar style in zotero?

    Thanks!!
  • As AdamSmith said in the other thread, the term Index Medicus (IM) is out of date. The IM was a printed bibliography that ceased publication more than a decade ago. A more comprehensive bibliography in electronic form (MEDLARS), for all reasonable purposes, began replacing IM in the 1960s. MEDLARS was further expanded in scope and in 1964 became known as MEDLINE. In the mid-1990s MEDLINE was further expanded and became known as PubMed. Before PubMed, searching the biomedical literature was subject to high cost. There were fees pr search term and per item record returned. This basic search was only for the current year and immediately previous year. If you required earlier years you were charged additional fees to cover the cost of changing tapes on the mainframe.

During the 1980s the term Index Medicus was used as a restrictor to protect against all those newly added questionable journals in MEDLINE. Some of the older established journals objected to authors' citing papers published in journals that were outside the core group.

But I digress. Now, "Index Medicus abbreviation style" refers to abbreviations that follow the guidelines and rules set out by the US National Library of Medicine and to some extent by the ISO and the LITA. The NLM (with only a few exceptions) only indexes journals and articles deemed relevant to biomedical fields. These abbreviation rules were incorporated into citation styles established by the American Medical Association and later at a CBE convention held in Vancouver.

Among the available Zotero styles are several "flavors" of the Vancouver styles, AMA style, and some journal-name styles that are based upon Vancouver.

Apologies for typos. This note was entered on my tablet while I am pulled to the side of the road with everyone else waiting for minor flooding to clear so that I may continue my journey in California.
