Firefox crashes (doesn't even open a window) since upgrade from sync 3.2 to 3.3

I updated today Zotero 1.5 Sync Preview from 3.2 to 3.3 (windows XP). When I launch Firefox, no window comes up. In the Task manager/processes, firefox.exe seems to run fine, no mention of it in Task Manager/Applications.
What can i do?
Thanks for your help,

Laurent.
  • When did sync 3.3 come out? I just had the same problem. In addition, I can no longer sync with other computers. A conflict resolution window comes up with nothing in it. Please help. Thanx guys for a great app. One of the very best.
  • lgelman: First try restarting your computer, if you haven't yet. If that doesn't fix it, start Firefox in safe mode with add-ons disabled, enable Zotero's debug output, and start Firefox from the command line as described on that page to see if there's any debug output. If so, you can send it to support@zot...org (or post here if there's not much). If there's no debug output, start again in Safe Mode with add-ons disabled, disable Zotero in Tools->Add-ons, and see if the problem goes away after restarting.

    Deleting Firefox's extension cache files may also help.

    ResearchMD: This is a different issue. Follow the steps to clear one side, and start a new thread if you're still having trouble.
  • Hi Dan,
    Actually the problem seems to be the following:
    If I install everything from scratch (Firefox and Zotero), everything works fine (Zotero included) until I indicate the location of my Zotero database (which is located on a server): then it stops working. The Database in on the server because several people use the same one. I checked out that when I start Firefox, nobody else uses Zotero...
    I switched to another userprofile on my computer, where Sync3.2 is still in use and the same database on the same server: everything was fine. Under this other userprofile I did an update to sync3.3, and again, everything was bloked.
    When I type about:config, I do no have extensions.zotero.debug.log in the list...
    Thanks again,

    Laurent.
  • If Zotero is installed, and you start Firefox in safe mode with add-ons disabled, you should still see the Zotero prefs in about:config (search for "zotero"), and Zotero should also still show up in Tools->Add-ons->Extensions...

    However, you can also edit prefs.js in your Firefox profile to add the pref manually:

    user_pref("extensions.zotero.debug.log", true);
