Failing to connect to the server

Hi,

I'm experiencing some issues when trying to sync my zotero account. The message I've got so far is pasted below. I cannot get any report ID. I have checked my proxy and is not enabled. SO what else could be?

Thanks

  • None of theses work. I have no malware virus either.

I uninstalled the Zotero plugin and now I cannot even download it!

    Thanks
  • so on zotero.org website, when you click the padlock, what do you see for the certificate info? (Verified by..)
  • Hi @aurimas

I see "Verified by avast!Web/Mail Shield"

    Avast is my anti-virus...

    Many thanks
  • You should disable the web shield (and possibly mail shield) components. The long explanation of why is on the page Dan links to.
  • I disabled that avast web/mail shield and still is not working. Now I see "verified by GeoTrust Inc."... what else could I try?

    Many thanks
  • restart and try again -- this will work when you see verified by GeoTrust Inc.
  • I have disabled the web shield and I have restarted and tried again and still is not working - the padlock already says "verified by Geotrust".

Neither is working the zotero plugin nor the standlone for windows :(

I tried different browsers - Mozilla and Chrome.

Finally the proxy is disabled as well.
  • Can you post another error report with the disabled proxy and web shield? Try from both Firefox and Standalone
  • Also, I'm not sure what you're trying from Chrome, since you can only sync from the client and that is not available from Chrome.
  • Yes, you are right about the Chrome thing - sorry!

Here is the message on the Standalone:

  • Can you do the same from Firefox? Also, in Firefox, go to https://sync.zotero.org and check the padlock there.
  • Hi all,

I did the same from Firefox and still is not working. I'll try to uninstall avast and get another anti-virus, that might be the problem...

    Thanks for your help! :)
