Problem after re-downloaded Zotero

Hi every one
I have deleted and re-downloaded Zotero Standalone at my desktop and then I have imported my old library, now when I want to cite a reference which was used in a document of world 2007, the same references is cited if it like used for the first time, so Zotero after the reinstallation does not longer respects the previous style order in document, help please ?
  • How did you re-import? In order to maintain links between items in documents and your Zotero library, you should follow these instructions to back up and restore a Zotero library. Importing/exporting items via Zotero RDF (or any other format) breaks these links and, as far as Zotero is concerned, adds new items to your library.
  • Thanks for answer, I have exported my Zotero library as a RDF file, after a problem with windows, so after the reinstallation of Zotero, I have re-imported the library by the option “import”. Actually I am a PhD student and I have finished a work of two years so now when I want to restart my old text the software is no longer follows the same sequence of previous references
  • Unfortunately, what you're experiencing is completely expected behavior and there's nothing you can do to re-establish the links between your document and Zotero library without having a copy of your original Zotero library (either a zotero.sqlite file or a synced copy on zotero.org). If you want the citations to work properly, you will have to go through the document and re-insert the citations from your new Zotero library.

However, simply uninstalling Zotero does not delete your old library unless you explicitly delete those files. It sounds like you may have re-installed Windows, which would have irreversibly deleted all of your old files. If you simply performed a repair on your profile or something else that did not involve you re-installing the whole operating system, it's possible that your old data directory is still somewhere on your computer and can be recovered (we'd need to know more about what you did to give you more advice). Of course if you have a backup if your whole hard drive from before your troubles with the OS, your library should be there as well.
