RTF Scan

Hi all,

I've posted this comment before elsewhere, but it was suggested that I start a new discussion.

I have been typing the citation markers into Scrivener as I go along in the style of the RTF Scan supported formats (i.e. I've just written {Glasser & Strauss 1967}, {Glasser & Strauss 1967; Bryman 2012} etc into Scrivener instead of copying the reference from Zotero and pasting into Scrivener as I go). Once I'm done, I then just compile the Scrivener document and run the RTF scan on the Word document afterwards to convert all the markers.

This works really well, but I noticed that RTF Scan doesn't automatically support/extract/reformat all markers, such as in the following format:

- Glaser and Strauss (1967, p. 61) argue that 'researchers will know once saturation has been reached...'

which could be written as Glaser and Strauss {1967, 61}. RTF only supports these formats:

- Smith {2009}
- and {Smith, 2009, 10-14}

Essentially there is no middle ground for in-text citations which must include page numbers.

Similarly, it does not automatically extract and reformat "as cited in" markers, for example:

- Glaser and Strauss (1967; as cited in Bryman 2012)argue that...
- (Glaser & Strauss 1967; as cited in Bryman 2012)

I can just copy-paste these types of troublesome citations from Zotero while I'm writing, but it would be great to have RTF Scan extract and reformat these citations/markers automatically on RTF files.

Regards,

Rhiannon
  • Rhiannon,

    Did you ever find a solution to this? Life you, I prefer the {} and RTF scan way of working with Scrivener and Zotero, but am having problems with references to multiple pages, as in:
    {Barrow, 1988, 4, 9-14}

    If anyone has a fix for this it would be enormously appreciated!

    Best,
    Caitlin
