Failure to export/import existing database, can anybody help?
I have been using Zotero for about 3 years and have a database of a little over 1gb, containing articles with PDFs and other material. I have the Zotero standalone database perfectly set up on my primary (mac desktop) computer and this syncs with Zotero online (also working fine). I want to have my Zotero library on my MacBook and on the Windows partition I often use for work (much of my work requires me to Windows software). I have tried Exporting my Zotero library in full and then reimporting it. On windows (after much thinking and importing many of my articles) this gives the error, "An error occurred while trying to import the selected file. Please ensure that the file is valid and try again." I have tried re-exporting my database to ensure it wasn't an export failure. I have created an error report for the failure: 2126616194 if anyone can help?
I was trying to avoid having to redownload the full database from the server. Maybe I should just do that instead? What would your advice be? If I do take this approach, I'm still concerned though that this error means I can't safely store an exported backup of my Zotero database and then restore it if I have a problem in future. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

aurimasTo clarify fcheslack's response, none of the export formats that Zotero offers are a good choice for backing up or transferring a library. Use the instructions in the link above to back it up, then use the instructions just below that section to restore the library on another computer.
