Mac word zotero plugin crashes word everytime

I have been using zotero for years on my mac at work and now that I have 1 week left until I hand in my thesis it crashes and unless I move the zotero.dot file out of the mac office startup file I cannot start word without it crashing. I have tried reinstalling everything except zotero itself, but I do not want to do that since it may cause the loss of all my citations.
This is really really really annoying and if this is not fixed soon I will switch to something else because I am already extremely stressed and now this happens.
On top of the problem I cannot use the libreoffice addon instead for some reason I cannot pinpoint, the buttons do not do anything. So then I downloaded the standalone, which caused libreoffice to lose the toolbar completely and now I cannot use the addon at all for libreoffice

Could someone please help me now, otherwise I have to type out all the references before next monday plus finish

I will now end with a bunch of characters showing my frustration

  • Your understandable frustration is getting in the way of resolving your problem.

    Look at.
    https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting

Follow the troubleshooting steps and provide all the information requested.

    Also:

Are the standalone and FF versions open at the same time?

It isn't clear what your document format is (LibreOffice , Word).

At what point did the Mac Word problem begin? (What changed in your mac between when Word worked and when it began to fail?)

someone else will respond to answre questions about version compibiliity. OS X 10.6 is indeed very old.
  • (10.6.8 shouldn't be a problem afaik)
