Book Chapter with Editor

I'm aware that this question is answered in the FAQ, which I've read — but I'm needing a little bit more feedback than is provided there. I'm using "scannable cite" to export my citations into Scrivener. Everything works fine except for one thing.

I want to cite a chapter of a book in APA format. Lets say my citation is this:

Bishop, R. B. (2005) Cognitive Psychology: Hidden Assumptions. In Brent D. Slife, Jeffrey S. Reber, & Frank C. Richardson (eds.), Critical Thinking About Psychology: Hidden Assumptions and Plausible Alternatives (pp. XX-XX). Washington DC: American Psychological Association.

Following the directions provided in the FAQ, I add Bishop, R. B. as an "author," and I add each of the other three as "editors."

When I cite in text, it should (in proper APA) show: Bishop (2005). But instead, it copies in scannable type as Bishop, et al. (2005). It's treating the editors as additional authors.

What do I do to fix this?
  • Yeah, that looks like a bug, but it actually doesn't matter what you put in the second position for scannable cite, it could be a bunch of gibberish (the only thing that matters is if it starts with a "-" or not, for suppress author). Once you convert your references in LibreOffice, everything will be correct.
  • (convert your references by using "Set Document Preferences" and selecting a style--APA in your case--after running the scan).
