Zotero-enable site without any translator ?

Hello,
I'm working in a company that edit a web based meta search engine.
Since we'd like our customers to benefit from Zotero, we started looking at translators.
For sure, we could build such a translator for our web front-end. But still, is there any way to avoid this ? Is it possible to change our markup so that a standard Zotero translator would understand our content ? Some kind of "standard translator" that would expect specific classes on tags, micro-formats or any smart markup ? This would be easier for us than coding and - even more - deploying a cutom translator.

Thanks for any answer.

Guillaume.
  • this has been talked about a few times, so you can search for more info.

My personal recommendation is UnAPI+MODS XML. (However, you can use UnAPI with other bibliographic formats if you are already generating something & you can use COinS if UnAPI implementation is problematic (though it shouldn't be).)
  • I started working on some documentation on making your site Zotero ready. It is not completely fleshed out yet but you might find it useful.
  • Thank you very much for your help ! I'ml going to look at UnAPI since it seems to fit our needs.
