problem in sync my remote library

Report ID: 1238120491

I have updated my local library (Zotero Standalone) yesterday (created sub folders and inserted files). But when i accessed it later from home using my laptop it doesn't get updated. It is the same case today. Sync icon spins and stops. no error message but does not get updated.
  • In fact my local computer at university carries all the modifications I have done yesterday but the problem is with the remote library.
  • Thanks. I went through all the cases suggested yesterday, itself and several times today. I'm looking at the correct place. Sync setting too seems to be OK. Syncing process too gets completed (spinning starts and stops). And I do not receive error messages. I pressed the sync button of both computers many times. They both spin and stop. Still the library at the local university computer has a long list of "new collections" (which I updated yesterday) but that doesn't get synchronized with the remote computer. I went through many of the discussions on sync issues but they all seem to discuss error messages which for some reason I'm not receiving. I was thinking of sync<reset<restore option with my remote computer, but was concerned as it was not encouraged.
  • No, don't do anything with the reset options. If you go to your library at zotero.org, is that up to date? https://www.zotero.org/dileepawitharana/items/
  • no :( That is what i see in my remote computer. But my local computer carries the updated version. So it means that the local university computer has not got synchronized with zotero library at zotero.org?? What do you think is the problem with my university computer?
  • So it means that the local university computer has not got synchronized with zotero library at zotero.org?
    Yes.

Since you're not getting an error, my first guess would be that you're using a different username. Could you submit a debug log for clicking the sync arrow on that computer that is failing to sync? (wait for the arrow to stop spinning)
  • Since there is no saving option in the zotero local library, shouldn't it get erased when i shut down and restart the local computer, if the updates were not synchronized with the zotero.org?

Since there is no saving option in the zotero local library
Not sure what you mean here. What you see in Zotero Standalone is always saved on your computer. Generally, restarting your computer does not erase any of that data. Some public computers may be set up to erase all data when restarted, but they generally allow users to store persistent data remotely.
  • Thats ok. To submit a debug log i did try preferences<advanced<enable but option given after that is <view output> which leads me to a blank page (it doesn't lead me to synchronizing<saving<importing options as instructed in the instrstruction sheet...)
  • Thanks for the clarification about restarting
  • What I have under the unable button is view output, clear output and submit to zotero server..
  • Done. I did submit the Debug Report.
  • You need to post the debug ID here. Just to review and clarify, what you need to do is:
    1) go to Preferences -> Advanced -> General, click Enable under Debug Output Logging
    2) click the sync button (green circular button at the top right of Zotero window)
    3) wait for it to stop spinning
    4) back in the Preferences window, click Submit to Zotero Server
    5) copy paste the Debug ID here.
  • Debug ID: D1955299378
  • Thanks again for clarifying things patiently :) Hope you will be able to locate the problem.
  • Synchronization of my local computer with zotero.org happened before. The problem started only yesterday.
  • Issue solved when I checked today. Thank you very much.
