Style issue: displaying only the first initial

Hi

I'm trying to edit a referencing style so that the bibliography displays only the first initial after the surname (e.g. Smith J). Is it possible to do this with a macro, or is it something I should change in the library?

Thanks
  • no, definitely keep the full name in the library.
In the style, this is done, in technical terms, by setting the the attribute intialize-with="" on cs:name. You can look at, e.g., the Vancouver style as an example.
  • You cannot restrict to the *first* only AFAIK. @adamsmith code will give you Smith JH, for a person names John Henry Smith.
