Can I use Zotero with a proxy server?

Hello. In my company since they found out that internet through a proxy server is very productive to monitor which pages you visit can not connect without going through the proxy.

My question is: Is there any problem in using Zotero with an intermediary proxy server?
  • Depends on the nature of the proxy. If the proxy intercepts encrypted traffic (e.g. HTTPS, and it sounds like it probably does), then you will have issues updating Zotero and syncing your data to zotero.org. You can update manually (though we strongly encourage automatic updates) and you might not care about syncing. In that case, there may be other issues, but I'm not aware of them.

To check if your proxy intercepts encrypted traffic, click on the padlock icon in the url bar when at zotero.org and check the details of the SSL certificate. The certificate should be verified/issued by GeoTrust.
