basic question

How can i invite someone to view my research, highlights and notes? This would be easiest for my professor to see my research but am unsure how to add him...
  • And does he have to have an account?
  • you can't actually invite individuals to view your personal library. Either it's public or not.

You can put all your stuff in a group and invite him. Unless you want your group public (in which case, again, everyone could view it) he would need an account, yes.

  • Wouldn't this be a use case for a private key (https://www.zotero.org/settings/keys)?
  • Theoretically yes, but can you think of a low-tech way of using that?
  • Thanks!...SO...I created a public group .... now he should be able to log and and view it? How would he access it? Is there a direct link I could send him? It's labeled Alsaffar Research so I don't care who sees it at this point...
  • When you look at the groups library online, you'll see a URL in the form
    https://www.zotero.org/groups/123456/items
He'll be able to access that. No need to log in or create an account for a public group.
  • Well, one can share the RSS feed with the key. But this way you will see mainly bibliographic data (no notes, pdfs, annotations) AFAIK.
  • AdamSmith, I went there on my iPhone but couldn't find my stuff...any ideas anyone on how to let my professor access my articles? I'm trying to avoid saving them all to flash drives as that seems like extra work that can be avoided.
  • If you have copied your items to the group -- i.e. you see them in the group locally, you'll need to sync before they appear online:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/sync
(but note that the URL I give above is the generic _form_ of the URL, it's not the right URL.)
