I have a paid account. New Zotero thinks I don't. Won't Sync.

I don't think this is a forum issue, frankly, but when I emailed the helpdesk ****@digitalscholar.org said I need to come to the forum. In May I paid for the upgrade to 2gb. But when I installed Zotero to a new computer it says I don't have such an account and maxes me out at 300mb. How do I convince Zotero that I paid for it?

Any advice?
  • Correction: It recognizes my account fine and syncs up to 300mb. But then it says to upgrade when I've already upgraded for a year (set to renew). I followed all the steps to upgrade again to see if it would realize that I already have an upgraded account but it didn't. I was all set to just pay again. Otherwise, it syncs correctly up to 300mb of my library. This seems like a really basic feature.
  • You purchased it on a different account. Check your email.
  • Great. Thanks. Wouldn't have figured that out from the forum in any case. Now I need to figure out how to merge the two which is an issue for the forums.
  • If you have everything in your local Zotero library, then you should be ok with just entering your other credentials in Zotero and syncing (it should warn you that you're trying to sync with a different account, which you are, so just ignore the warning). Make a backup of your Zotero library beforehand just in case. https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data#backing_up_your_zotero_library
  • you can just change your login to the paid account in your local Zotero and that should merge everything. (and since that's always the next question: no, one account won't overwrite the other. Syncing only deletes things that you have explicitly deleted).
  • Also, this is weird because the account I have been using (that I apparently did not upgrade) has been storing/syncing 1.5gb perfectly fine until today (after this issue). I had emailed someone previously (in June) when I had this issue with another computer. They never responded but it started syncing properly so I didn't think any more about it. Perhaps they did something (like linking the accounts or something) that is now not working.

Guess I'll back up the one that was working until a few minutes ago and transfer it to the account that I upgraded.
  • Oh okay. Thanks everyone for your comments. I was afraid that it would delete everything so I thought I had to back up and transfer.
