Does Openg Office can open my Microsoft Office files?

Hi, I'm Paul Weinstock and would like to install Openg Office. Any help?

There are a number of different versions of OpenOffice. My advice is to stick with the ones from Novell if you want the best compatibility with Microsoft Office (Novell and Microsoft collaborate on this) files and various other refinements. The Novell versions have a lot of patches, updates and refinements long before they appear in the version released by OpenOffice.org, although some of Novell's version 2 updates were integrated by Sun into the new upstream (i.e. Openoffice.org) version 3.

There are two places you can get the Novell edition for Windows:
http://go-oo.org/ (Windows 3.0 version is a simple exe download).

http://download.novell.com/. For thew Windows version select OpenOffice.org from the product menu then select OpenOffice.org 3.0 Novell Edition.

I'm not sure if there's any difference between the two. The Go-oo or ooo-build version is the version of OpenOffice that's used by most Linux distributions.
