Tagging pdf content (text sections, images, annotations)

I would very much appreciate a functionality to tag text sections, images or annotations in pdf-documents; it would allow me to work on tagged “items” at a latter stage and to retrieve relevant data more easily.

Can this be done in zotero?

    Thank you for your ideas, Rintze. However, there is a difference between tagging a pdf document and a text section within a pdf document (both with zotero tags).

    Any ideas whether this could be programmed?

    The comments in that thread apply: Firefox does not presently have native support for PDF & third-party PDF viewers do not have good APIs for Zotero to use.

    Until one of these two things changes, Zotero's ability to manipulate PDFs will be limited.
