Error 284433484 'There was an error starting Zotero'

I tried to save a newspaper article using Zotero in Firefox, but it can neither save nor can I close the Zotero window.

My Library items also failed to load.

Any help would be much appreciated

    Have you tried just restarting your computer?

    i have a similar problem with the zotero add-on for firefox on ubuntu 14.04, after upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04, & starting firefox, i get the error message 'there was an error starting zotero' when i try to start zotero within firefox.

    i followed the comments in the forum thread (https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/35233/error-box-there-was-an-error-starting-zotero/), unfortunately without success. so i'm reporting the problem (following these guidelines: https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems#reporting_startup_errors).

    this is the error i get in the browser console, under the js tab:

    any idea how to resolve this is also very much appreciated.

    solved the problem from my side. seems like when i did the upgrade the hfsplus tools got de-installed -> so the external hd was a 'read only' filesystem (as it is a hfs+ disk). anyway after installing hfsplus tools & rebooting first into the mac partition, then again into ubuntu things are back to normal...
