Cannot sync at all, not just Firefox Sync

I encountered two problems that seem to be connected. My Firefox Sync is unable to sync passwords and extensions across my two computers (bookmark syncing is working). At the same time, I cannot get my Zotero extension to sync its data across computers.

I suspect these problems are interconnected. I am using Win 8.1 standard settings, Avast antivirus, newest version of Firefox.

Please could anyone help?
  • It was caused by some corrupted files. Solutions: I reset Firefox to factory settings.
  • I have been trying to sync my private library to my class group library for a week now. Can you please help me. I have Google Crome so there is no green "circle" shaped arrow at the top. I have gone into my setting and synced everything. I get a PDF, journal article, ANYTHING, and everything I sync goes into my personal Zotero account. I need it to go into both accounts. Please help me out

  • please start a new thread. But it also sounds like you're misunderstanding how groups work, so start here:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/groups

(and yes, if you have Zotero, you have the green round arrow at the top right. That's in both the Firefox add-on and the Standalone version).
  • I have downloaded standalone..... Please talk to me like I have no idea about computers because I dont. I just deleted my account so that I could start from the beginning. I am going on 2 1/2 hours here and I know its because I dont understand the language. I know nothing about websites and preferences!
Here are things I can find.
Click on the Zotero icon in the bottom-right corner of the Firefox window. (There is no icon at the bottom... I have search the whole page.
There is no green arrow even though you say there is

I am looking at a Google Chrome page. I have Standalone installed but am I suppose to do something further with it once it is installed?

I have a sync option under settings but it is only allowing me to sync emails. There is no space to write a user name or id
  • Start by creating your own discussion using the red "Start a New Discussion" button at the top left.
You'll want to actually run the Zotero Standalone software, though, once you do that this will make more sense.
