Delete missing attachments

I'm using Zotfile to rename and move my attachments. I had a lot of duplicates when I transported my library over from Mendeley. I ended up with a bunch of files with 'filename.pdf' and 'filename2.pdf', so I deleted all the '*2.pdf' files; easy enough.

Is there any way to remove the '*2.pdf' attachments from the items in my library? Now if I try to rename an item, it places the '*2.pdf' file back in my folder for Zotfile, which I don't want.
  • so I deleted all the '*2.pdf' files; easy enough.
How exactly did you do this? (i.e. where did you delete these from?)
I'm using Zotfile to rename and move my attachments.
Also, please describe exactly what you're doing here. I can't imagine ZotFile being able to move files that are non-existent. Are you using the "Send to Tablet" feature?
  • I set up Zotfile to move the files to a custom folder, so this is where I had all the pdf files. Just deleted the *2.pdf files using terminal commands.

The files existed, so I had duplicate pdf's that got moved using Zotfile, which were linked to a single item after I merged duplicates.

As far as I can tell, that's what happened. I'm new to Zotero so maybe the mechanics are different than what I think.
  • the attachments in Zotero also have the *2 in their name, no? In that case this should be pretty easy to do.
  • Just realized I could search for 2.pdf and get them (did I mention I'm new?)...

Is there a way to select all files resulting from a search? At this point, I have to go through and select all the unfaded attachments.
  • Press Ctrl+A
  • select all (ctrl+a/cmd+a on mac) will select only unfaded items, i.e. search hits.
