Zotero connector for safari was not working correct

Hi everybody,

I am new to Zotero and I have just installed Zotero Standalone and the Zotero Connector (4.0.8) for Safari (v.7.0.6) on my Mac (OSX 10.9.4). The Zotero button now appears next to my address bar.The icon transform to notebook image when visit the URL http://d.wanfangdata.com.cn/Periodical_kcjyyj201414261.aspx. and icon tip is : save to zotero(Wanfang data via zoteroStandalone) .

I click the icon and get the flow error message:
Saving to 我的文献库…
An error occurred while saving this item. Check Known Translator Issues for more information.

But in the same machine, everything working is well done with chrome.

is zotero extension for safari have some error?
  • The long-ish story is that Wanfang translator is marked as compatible with Firefox and Chrome, but not compatible with Safari (I'm not sure if that is still the case and, if it's not, this would be an easy fix. Doesn't look like there's anything special going on, but someone with better knowledge of Safari would have to take a look). Since it's incompatible with Safari, Zotero tries to import data using Zotero Standalone (which is effectively same as Firefox), but wanfangdata depends on some cookies being set during this process and Zotero is currently very cautious when dealing with cookies in Zotero Standalone. So unless we can mark the translator as compatible with Safari, fixing this would take some time (there's a fix on the way, it's just not coming out very soon).
  • I marked it as compatible with Safari. You can update your translators in Zotero Standalone via Preferences -> General -> Update Now. Restart Safari and try again.

    Thanks for reporting!
  • my Zotero Standalone version is 4.0.21.5. it's newest version .
    but cannot working yet.
  • I am having a problem with my connector through Safari as well. I just installed it and it was working but, then stopped. However, when it was working it would not identify when I had articles available, through it would work for youtube and other web pages. These articles were on scholarly databases. Now my connector has a line through it. I uninstalled everything and started again, even created a new log in and restarted my comp but, still has a line through it. I am not sure what I am supposed to do next. Please someone help!
  • Please start a new thread and provide a Report ID from Safari if possible. Also provide a sample website that's not working, but should be working. (e.g. this page should show a book icon)
