Zotero slows firefox upon use

Hi,

I have been a happy uncomplicated user of Zotero for 5 years or so now. However, recently I started to notice firefox slowing when I had zotero open (in pane or in tab). Now the problem is chronic. Firefox does not respond for 30 seconds or more upon opening zotero, and any other action like searching my citations.

In case these are helpful I made a Report ID: 1694660415, and a Debug ID: D1224751277 (logged closing and opening zotero).

I have firefox 31.0, zotero 4.0.21.5, Windows 7 64 bit, and generally use zotero word for windows integration 3.1.16. I have disabled all other add-ons and the problem remains. My zotero library has about 2500 items.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • What about if you close the tag selector in the bottom right?
  • Immediately faster. Amazing. Problem seems to be gone. Actually, I never even used tags so I am happy just to leave this box closed.

However, if you have a suggestion what I can change or do to resolve the issue with the tag selector I would be glad to know.

    Thanks a lot,
    Tim
  • We'll take a look at the performance of the tag selector. There've been a few reports of this in the last couple days, so it's possible there was a recent regression that caused things to be slower with large numbers of tags (i.e., thousands).
  • Okay. Thanks very much. My immediate problem is solved and I will wait for the next update to resolve the underlying issue.
  • OK, since there've been a few reports of this, I'm consolidating the threads:
