diacritics in Czech

When I import data to Zotero using add ISBN, I type ISBN no. 8085213419 and ENTER. Zotero download correct name of title (7 návyků vůdčích osobností pro úspěšný a harmonický život: návrat etiky charakteru), but there are mistakes. Not in first view, but when I put this text to LibreOffice there look good, but spell corrector marks mistake – 7 návyků is more na´vyků then návyků, but it look like návyků. Problem is when I wont search world náv and zotero does not see reference in návyků, becouse in zotero database is návyků like separately letters and separately diacritics – but when I type návyků on my PC I just 6 letters with diacritics. I know, I can retype this, but in my library is more than 1500 titles and I would like put other.
  • This is a known issue with Unicode character composition (and Open WorldCat - the service we use for ISBN look-ups - uses a less common composition form). Unfortunately, there is no good solution to this problem at the moment. It will likely get fixed in the next major version of Zotero. In the mean time, you will have to retype some of these characters if they are not rendering correctly in LibreOffice (though that would seem to be an error in LO software). I wouldn't retype all of the records, since, as I say, this will probably be fixed in Zotero at some point sooner rather than later.
  • Thank you so much. When will be new version of Zotero, approximately? I thing new version of Zotero does not correct current mistakes. Is it any possibility change mistakes in file zotero.sqlite? For example by find and replace?
  • I'm not saying that the very next version will correct this. I wouldn't expect this to happen until at least 4.1, which is a couple months away. When this does happen, existing entries in the database will be corrected.

Technically, it is possible to do this in the sqlite file, but it is not a simple search and replace. The technical difficulty of these operations is beyond what I feel comfortable guiding someone through, so if you want to figure this out, you're mostly on your own (I think, unless Dan is willing to give you more guidance). Though, we may be able to answer some specific questions if you can't figure something out.
