plugin in word mac 2011

i tried to download the plugin for word mac, and when i try to open the application this massage appears:

"the open XML file Zotero-MacWord-Plugin-3.5.7.xpi cannot be opined because there are problems with the contents or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example, |/)."

I tried to download again and again and I always get the same respond.

O noticed that the app's extension is .xpi instead of the usual mac's .dmg extension.

How can I make it work?

Thanks
  • From the installation page:
The word processor plugins are distributed as Firefox extensions, which provide word processor integration to Zotero and install the necessary components into the word processors.
And in case you're using Zotero Standalone:
Zotero Standalone Users: Word processor plugins are included with Zotero Standalone, and can be installed from the Zotero preferences. Plugins on this page are for Zotero for Firefox only.
  • i don't get it... what can I do?
i installed the firefox plugin and I looked at the plugin there, it is installed but i can't change the preference, the button doesn't work...
    What I am doing wrong?
When I tried to install the plug in on word it says the file is corrupted
    please help!

You were trying to install the XPI into Word. Since the integration support is distributed as a Firefox extension, you don't do that.

Once installed in Firefox, it should install the plugin into Word automatically after you restart Firefox, and you can reinstall it manually from the Cite pane of the preferences. (Again, this is assuming you're using Zotero for Firefox.)

    Beyond that, see https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting
