library page is blank

My page were the libraries normally appear is blank . I have not upgraded and my computer runs on windows XP.
I have pressed the “Show Data Directory” button in the Advanced pane but when I do, Zotero closes.
On the other hand when I logged in to connect to the forum I noticed items ( although not all)were under "my library"
Thanks in advance for your help,

That error is about a somewhat different issue (basically, Berkeley's proxy server is broken), but there are a couple ways it could be related. To eliminate it as a variable, can you try Zotero for Firefox, which will share your existing data directory by default, to see if you can view your library there? (You'll need to install Firefox first if you don't have it installed.)

But actually, first, could you clarify what you mean by "I have pressed the “Show Data Directory” button in the Advanced pane but when I do, Zotero closes."? Are you sure it's closing, or do you just mean that it's bringing the file system viewer to the front?

Also, I show you as uploading data as recently as a few hours ago. Is that on a different computer? Before you bother with the Firefox part above, can you take a screenshot of what you're saying is blank, upload it somewhere (Dropbox, imgur.com, etc.), and post a link here so that we can see what you mean?
  • Dear Dan:
thanks , I downloaded Zotero for Firefox and all my library entries are there. I uploaded a screenshot on dropbox to "do-not-reply@zotero.org."
Please let me know whether that works or you want me to share with a different address.
I did upload data just a few hours ago on the same computer. The problem started after I uploaded one item.

When I press the show data directory button the system brings me back to the desktop screen

    Thanks for your prompt responses,
    Best
    Rene
  • if the screenshot doesn't contain private information, just post the dropbox share link here. (do-not-reply addresses are typically not read if they even collect e-mail at all).
  • if you do need to email it, send it to support@zotero.org and include a link to this thread

You have the left pane collapsed. Are you sure you're not just in an empty collection? Drag the grippy thing on the left to the right to make the left pane visible, and then see if you can just change collections.
