Translation not working in Firefox/Iceweasel 24

Hi,

Currently the translator-function is not working in my iceweasel/firefox. I found out yesterday, and it definitely worked fine during the weekdays last week.

All other functions of zotero seem to work fine.

I have tried removing the add on from iceweasel, but after reinstall, I get the same error-message: troubleshooting translator issues (https://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues). I have looked through them, and I don't seem to be suffering from any of them.

I am running Iceweasel 24.6.0 and zotero 4.0.21.2 on a Linux Debian system.

URL of a page not working: http://www.information.dk/501493
Also books, papers etc. doesn't seem to work.

It's probably just me who is overlooking something simple, but I just can't seem to figure it out then. I have also tried searching other threads for an answer without any luck.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best,
rune
  • Same problem over here.
Iceweasel 24.6.0 and zotero 4.0.21.2 on Debian Operationg System (Wheezy).

The problem startet after an Iceweasel update (from version 24.5.0). I was able to reproduce this error an a second machine with the same operating system. The Translator used to work properly with Iceweasel 24.5.0.

The translater-problem appears only on a few sites (for example amazon.com, The Washington Post). With other sites like worlcat.org or the New York Times the translater works without any problems.

I followed all steps on the troubleshooting site (https://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues) without any success.
    Looking forward for a solution.
    Best, Demian
  • Is http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC21188/ not working for either of you? (The translator, if you scroll over the URL bar icon should be PubMed Central)
  • Scrolling over the translator URL-Bar-Icon shows PubMed Central. Clicking on it produces an error (Could not save item. An error occured saving this item. Check Troubleshooting Translator Issues for more Information)...
  • Yes, this is definitely a FF/IW 24.6/Zotero 4.0.21 incompatibility then. Unfortunately, my guess would be that it'll take a little while to fix, so if you need this urgently, I'd be looking for a workaround (be it Firefox 30 or using Chromium with Standalone).
  • Can you try the Zotero beta and confirm that this is fixed? Thanks.
  • Hi, I had same issues as above (FF 24.6 + Zotero 4.0.21). Installing the beta seemes to have fixed the translator issue
  • Yes, installing zotero beta fixes the translator issue.

This is fixed now in 4.0.21.3. If you installed the beta and would prefer not to be running beta software, you can switch back to the release version.
  • I have installed the release version, and it seems to be working perfectly.

Thanks so much for the quick solution, and thanks in general for a great piece of software!
  • Confirmation: I installed the release version and the translator now works properly.

Thank you very much! Your doing a great job.
