Problem with Zotero icon not showing in Chrome toolbar

Hi,

I will greatly appreciate help with the Zotero icon not showing in Chrome toolbar. I updated yesterday to Zotero 4.0.20 and this did not fix the problem. In the past I clicked on the icon and it would grab needed info about book, article, etc. When I right click it takes a snapshot and puts all info in title area. I am working on a paper and need help asap. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Do you have the Chrome extension installed?

Go to chrome://extensions/ in the Chrome address bar to check.
  • Yes, I checked it says Zotero extension 4.0.8.2 is enabled.

I notice that Zotero extension 4.0.8.2 version is different than my Zotero 4.0.20 version.
  • 4.0.8.2 is correct for the Chrome connector.
Can you confirm that you're not getting a URL bar icon here:

  • HI,

Thank you. I can get icon with the link you sent. I have not used Zotero since August and think I remember also being able to see the icon with Amazon Books and Google Scholar. Am I incorrect? If I am incorrect what are the search engines where I can get the icon.
    Really appreciate your help!

  • OK-now amazon and google scholar are showing icon! Not sure why clicking on the link you sent would activate the icon. Thrilled that it is working. However, I am curious as to why-any idea?

    Thank you for your help!

  • no ideas, no, probably just a coincidence (though a coincidence that screams for an "invisible hand" joke...)
  • Two days of trying to get this to work and now it works-wow-does feel like there should be a reason-well back to design work and later back to the paper for presentation at a conference in July.

    Thanks again!

A reason that can be understood, but the invisible hand works for me as long as it works :) and keeps working.
