Zotero error updating Word document

When using Word plug in I get the following error message: Zotero experienced an error updating your document. assignment to undeclared variable needUpdate

Any idea how to fix?

    I had that error once, I believe it usually occurs with an incompletely inserted reference. Usually just restarting Word and Zotero/Firefox fixes this, did you try that?

    Thanks, Adam. Yes, I tried restarting both Word and Firefox, but the problem remained. Zotero will do I reference in a Word doc before I get the error. However, when I try to insert another reference, I get the error message.

    that's in any Word document or just in a specific Word document? Or, in other words, can you reproduce the problem in an entirely empty document?

    If so, which Zotero, Word, and Word add-on version? And provide a debug ID that covers triggering that error:

    Yes, I get the same error in new Word docs as existing. I am using Word 2007. I think I am using the most recent version of Zotero, Firefox, and the add-on. Debug id D1028934876.

    You have Zotero 4.0.17.1. This was fixed in Zotero 4.0.18, and the latest version of Zotero is 4.0.20.2. You can download the latest version of Zotero from http://zotero.org/download, but you should check that you have automatic updates enabled.
