Does the Zotero extension for Chrome also work with the Iron-browser?

Dear all,

anybody knows if the Zotero extension for Chrome also works with the Iron-browser? After downloading it I didn't succeed in installing the extension as an add-in for the Iron-browser. In my institute Firefox is flickering heavy, my admin can't resolve the problem at the moment and only offered Iron as an alternative.

Best, Sebastian
  • It's certainly not tested so if it doesn't work, you're probably out of luck. It does work with Chromium, though, if google-related privacy is the main concern.
  • Hi Adam,
thank you for the information, I will advise my admin about it. You were right, it's about privacy.
    Best,
    Sebastian
  • I just tested it out and Zotero seems to work the same as with Chrome. I didn't test it exhaustively, so there might be web pages that don't work in Iron but work in Chrome.
  • Have you been able to install the browser extension for Chrome in Iron?
  • Could you please briefly describe me how you did it? By downloading it I am asked to save the extension as an crx-file. Afterwards, I don't know how to open it or to add it to Iron.
  • In SRWare Iron, go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/zotero-connector/ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc and click the "Free" button. That shouldn't trigger a download, it should add the extension to the browser. If it's downloading, your setting might be messed up somewhere (though there may be a way to load extension from a downloaded file)
