numbered references missing numbers

I formatted my references in PNAS format which lists the them numerically. However, some of the references are missing their numbers. I tried deleting the bibliography and reinserting it and I tried changing to a different numbered citation style, but some of the references are still missing numbers. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm using Zotero 4.0.20 standalone version on Mac OS.
Thanks
  • could you take a screenshot of an affected section of the bibliography, post it somewhere (dropbox, imgur.com) and provide a link here?
  • Sure,

The in text citations are fine, and the references are numberd correctly, but zotero just didn't include the numbers for some of them. If I rebuild the references, then the numbers are always missing on the same references. If I use a different, but numbered style, the numbers are still missing on the same refs. At least its repeatable...
  • The citation styles are mixed: for some reason the items in the bibliography are following two different citations styles, one of them isn't numbered (see how the placement of the year is different e.g.). What I'd try is to click on "Edit Bibliography" in the Word add-on and see if you can select "Revert All" if so, do that and see if that fixes things.
  • yup, that was it. my colleague must have gone in and manually edited the bibliography instead of going back to his zotero database to fix the formatting.

    Thanks
