Hiding navigation bar in Firefox 29

It really bothered me that Mozilla removed the ability for add-ons like Zotero to hide the navigation bar in Firefox 29. I tried out a bunch of addons to auto-hide the navigation bar and then show it when the mouse moved over it, but most of them didn't work very well. Eventually, I found The Fox, Only Better. The auto-hide animation in this addon is very smooth and pleasant to use.

If you're looking to get a Zotero experience similar to pre-Firefox 29 with the navigation bar hidden, I'd recommend it. (I'm not all affiliated with the developer, just very happy with the experience this addon provides).

Just to clarify, Zotero itself never hid the navigation bar. I assume you mean they took away the ability for users to hide the navigation bar. What changed in relation to add-ons is that they removed the Add-on Bar at the bottom, which, yes, forces icons like Zotero's to be available only up top in the now-unhidable navigation bar.
  • When in Tab Mode, Zotero used to be automatically hide the navigation bar. Perhaps that was simply a function of calling xul.
