How to Move Group Library Files to My Library

I have saved a lot of citations and files (pdfs) into a collection in my Group Libraries. I would like to move these citations and files to My Library to free up Zotero server space. I have selected file sync for my Group Libraries but deselected it for My Library.

I can move (i.e., drag) a citation (i.e., the metadata) to My Library, but the file does not move with it. That is, when I click on Citation A in My Library, I expect to see an option in the pop-up menu that says "Show File." That is, I expect the file to be duplicated somewhere in My Library. However, this is not the case. Instead the option is "Show in Library." When I click on "Show in Library," I'm taken to the file associated with Citation A in my Group Library.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance you can offer.

    in the general tab of the Zotero preferences under "Groups" - are all the boxes checked?

    Yes, all of them are checked.

    Have you tried restarting your computer? Is this reproducible afterwards?

    Was the item you're referring to previously moved _from_ My Library _to_ the group library?

    Is this Zotero Standalone or Zotero for Firefox? Do you have any other extensions installed (in either)? If so, disable them.

    Can you create a new item in My Library and attach a file to it? Does the attachment behave as expected?

    Produce a Debug ID for the action of moving an item (not an item you have moved before) with an attachment to My Library from a group library.

    can you try this with a newly created item?
    I.e. create a new item with an attachment in the group library and drag it over. Same thing?

    I believe it worked. I dragged Citation A (which has associated with it a pdf) from the Group Library to My Library. Now when I right-click on Citation A in My Library, and when I left-click on Show File, it takes me to a new copy of the file, which I guess is now the copy of the file associated with Citation A in My Library.

    Does this sound right? I did it for a couple of files and want to believe this will happen for all other files. In addition, I plan to delete the citations in my Group Library as I move them (and the associated pdfs) to My Library. I also made sure to empty the Trash in My Library.

    FYI: I'm using Zotero Standalone. The first place I put my pdfs was in the Group Library, specifically in the Collection I created for the group.
