diffiuclté à synchroniser

Erreur ID 2033890344
J'ai pu démarrer la synchronisation mais elle a vite planté, j'ai beaucoup de difficulté avec mon noms d'utilisateur, je dois probablment me tromper mais je m'y perds complètement.
  • Generally this just means that your username or password are incorrect. Clear them completely in the Sync pane of the preferences, restart Zotero for good measure, and enter them again. Then try to sync again.
  • Many thanks. I tried but I am afraid that I cannot remember my good username! I was so disturbed that perhaps I have created several accounts.

I manage to sync my library between the server and my computer at home, but I cannot sync between my e-book and the server.

But from my e-book I can log_in in my account but anyway it does not make my accurate user name available in my account. Sorry I am somewhat old and not very clever with zotero. I will try again this evening after upgrading my version of zotero.
  • Your username is what you're logged into right now — the name at the top of the page and above your posts here.
  • Many thanks, Dan. I thought that my name could the right one but as soon as I enter Françoise Lainé it is swept out. Perhaps a matter of cedille and accent aigu. I will try this evening.
  • Back to home today.I have tried again and was not successfull. When I enter my username it i swept out...
  • Not sure exactly what you mean by that. If you mean that you type your username in the Sync pane of the preferences and then when you return to that window it's no longer there, that generally indicates either that you're using a master password in Firefox but cancelling its password prompts or your Firefox password manager database is corrupted. Zotero will generally show you a message when this occurs, but you can try moving the signons.sqlite file in your Firefox profile directory to your desktop and restarting Firefox. If that works, you'll lose all saved passwords but the problem should go away. If it doesn't work, you can move the file back.
  • It is swept out as soon as I click on "OK", or even as soon as I enter my password, so I have to enter it again after the password and when I click on "OK", it disappears! If I enter another (inaccurate) username, it does not disappear. If e.g. I enter "Francoise Laine" without "ç" and "é".

I suppose that the solution would be to change my username, but I really don'y know how to do.
  • That's bizarre. You definitely don't need to change your username, though. Can you provide a Debug ID (rather than Report ID) for entering your username and doing whatever you need to do to get it to clear?
  • I have done all that you advise to do, but when I try to send the reprot to Zotero server, it was impossible: "réponse serveur invalide"
Here is the report. I suppose that my small laptop is not sufficient to use sync ?

  • OK, so that's likely an unrelated issue, but one you'll need to fix. Orange — or whatever hautdebitmobile is (wifi access point from Orange? software that they had you install?) — appears to be intercepting your HTTPS traffic. You'll need to fix that before Zotero can sync.
  • I'll try to see. I connected my e-book to my livebox at home... I'll try again within a few days from another wifi access in university and also try to fix that with Orange but I am afraid it will be somewhat difficult.
  • We've seen this before with Orange. It's an extremely bad practice.

If you go to https://api.zotero.org/ in your browser do you see "Nothing to see here." without an error? If so, click the padlock icon in the address bar and let us know what it says after "Verified by:" (Firefox) or "Connection" -> "The identify of this website has been verified by" (Chrome).

If you don't see an error on that site and it says something other than "GeoTrust, Inc." or "RapidSSL CA", it's likely because Orange had you install software (security software, some sort of web accelerator, etc.) that installed a fake root certificate into your browsers to avoid seeing the normal error when an HTTPS connection is intercepted. You should ask them how to disable the interception and to remove the fake certificate from your browsers. It may be as simple as uninstalling whatever software they gave you.

Thank you, sorry to give you so much trouble. I'll look for that tomorrow morning but before switching out my small laptop I have tried again to provide a DEBUG ID, I failed to send it but I have copied it on a memory stick and here it is. Of course I have understood only one thing in this report:(3)(+0000000): Username not set before getting Zotero.Sync.Storage.WebDAV.password"
For it does correspond to what I see when I enter my proper username it disappears as soon as I enter "OK"

  • see Dan's last message about https://api.zotero.org/ try that.
  • (I think Françoise saw that — they're just separate issues, and Françoise is providing the debug output on the original issue.)
  • Françoise: OK, sorry, so getting back to your original issue, I can actually reproduce this easily. I'm not sure why we haven't received any other reports of this. I'll look into fixing it, but as a workaround you can just use the email address associated with your account in place of your username.
  • The username issue is fixed for the next version. Thanks for reporting.
  • Thank you Dan, I'll try. Sorry yesterday I could not look after my laptop.
  • Dear Dan and Adam, I was absent but I did'nt give up and after some housekeeping and downloading the last versions of Zotero both on my PC and on my ebook, I manage to get through, with my email address as user name. Thank you for your help. The best for non anglosaxon users is to avoid carefully accents and such other things in their user name.
