Sync error and crash

Hello,

I've tried to manually enter biblio data into my library, and I keep getting the same error message, which pops up next to the sync button: "Transaction in progress in Zotero.Sync.Server._checkSyncUser"

I've submitted the report, number 340655107. (There are others, but I didn't realize that the report went nowhere unless I referenced it in the forums here).

Basically, every time I try to modify an entry by adding in text into a field (in this case, I was trying to add the editor's name for the volume, the city of publication, etc.) I'll type it in, hit enter to get Zotero to accept the entry, and then try to move on to the next field. But every time, the initial entry does not take. I've tried entering different fields first (ex. I tried to enter the city first, then the editor) but it didn't make a difference.

  • First name ('Belle S.') must be empty in single-field mode in Zotero.Creator.save()
Hmm, not sure how your database got into this state. You could searching for and deleting the item with that name and then emptying the trash. Checking your database integrity from the Advanced -> Files and Folders pane of the preferences may also help, though I'm not sure we've ever seen this before, so it might handle this case at the moment.
  • Hi Dan,

Thanks for getting back to me. I've deleted the file and emptied the trash, as you've suggested, but I don't understand your second suggestion, "checking [my] database integrity." What does this mean? I've navigated to the Advanced/Files and Folders section of Preferences, but I don't know what any of these options mean or what I'm supposed to do with them.

Currently, there is no base directory listed, and the data directory location is set to "use profile directory."
  • There is a button "Check Database Integrity" right under the bold "Database Maintenance"
click it and wait for the process to finish. Zotero will either say that everything OK or tell you there are problems in your database. If the latter, tell us what it says. If the former, you're good.
  • Ok, thanks. I clicked the button (not sure why I didn't see it before), and it said there were no problems. I'll check back in if the error I experienced continues.

    Thanks!
