Hi,

I'm using my wife's account to post to this forum because my problem is that I can't log in to Zotero Standalone OR the website. Hence, I can't post to the forum on my own account.

Until today, I was able to log on with no problem. The only change I have made in the last day or so was changing my password. Once I changed my password online I entered in the new password on Zotero Standalone. I am still able to add files to my library using Google Chrome, however I can no longer sync my Zotero Standalone because neither the Standalone or Zotero website recognize my log in information. I receive the message:

[JavaScript Error: "Invalid username or password"]

I have tried resetting my password but nothing seems to work. Please let me know what I can do. Thanks

  • Three emails were delivered to your email server an hour ago — I assume those were password-reset emails. If you're not getting them, check your spam folder.

    When I said that "nothing seems to work" I meant that resetting my password has not enabled me to log on to my account. It also has not resolved the problem of my inability to sync with Zotero Standalone. Sorry for the poor explanation before. Did I answer your questions?

    This still isn't explaining the problem. Remember that we can't see your screen — you have to tell us exactly what is happening.
  • Ok. That makes sense... sorry for the miss-communication. Let's start with this problem.

    1.
    When I open up Zotero Standalone the following comment pops up:

    "The Zotero sync server did not accept your username and password.

    Please check that you have entered your zotero.org login information correctly in the Zotero sync preferences."

    This inhibits my ability to sync Zotero Standalone (prompting me to OPEN SYNC PREFERENCES or CANCEL)

    2. When I attempt to log on to the Zotero website I receive the following message:

    "Invalid Username and Password."

    3.
    Lastly, when I change my password after a failed log in (by requesting an email notification to get a new password) in order to access my Zotero account online I receive the following message:

    "Invalid Username and Password."


    In short, I believe there is a miss-communication between my online account and my Zotero Standalone account in addition to some greater issue that I need help identifying. Thanks again for your patience. I rely on Zotero HEAVILY for my job as an ecologist.

    Try logging in with the email address (edit: as opposed to the username) that you provided for the password reset (with the password that you reset to)
  • Sorry, I missed that the email was in the title earlier. oboylem@icloud.com is a secondary email address on the account and won't work to log in. Use the username that's in the password reset emails (oboylem).
  • Sorry, I've had a family emergency during the past week.

    Using just oboylem as a username worked! I can now log on to the Zotero website and once again have the ability to sync my Zotero Standalone app. Thank you SO much for your help and patience.
