Installation options

We are a government legsilative agencies and are looking into a reference software like Zotero or Mendeley and are trying to look at options. I can't find readable information on how and where and what is stored where and if it will work with IE and things like that. Is there a way for me to contact someone familiar with the options for Zotero so we can make a decision? I need information on where and what is stored for documents, how the groups work for sharing, how the installs are done. We are in a network environment so have to know all that.
Thanks,
Jerry
  • It's really best to just ask here.
Local data storage is explained here:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
online data is stored with Zotero's account in the Amazon cloud
IE does work via the bookmarklet:
    http://www.zotero.org/downloadbookmarklet
but not as well as the fully supported browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera).
    Groups are covered here: http://www.zotero.org/support/groups

Install depends on which version you're looking at and on the operating system, but generally the Firefox add-on installs like an other FF add-on, the Standalone installs like any other software -
the Chrome connector, I believe, may be hard to install across systems.
  • Thanks Adam, I'll look at these.
  • I don't know the answer to this, but there's also the word processor component to Zotero, which you may also want to deploy.
