Zotero no longer defaulting to standalone after firefox reset

After a Firefox rest, when I'm using Firefox and click the zotero icon in the web address window of Firefox, the webpage reference is now saved to Firefox zotero instead of zotero standalone. Can someone help with how to make the default database zotero standalone?

    set the data directory for Zotero for Firefox to custom and point it to the data directory for Zotero Standalone:

    This is not always so straightforward. I reset FF and lost all of my FF user files + backups. My entire FF profile was gone. I certainly didn't expect that.

    I was able to find my Zotero files on Time Machine but the most recent Mavericks update reset my library to hidden. Before I could restore Zotero in my FF profile I had to make my library visible to the Finder. Extra steps were needed to get back my working Zotero library.

    but the data seems to still be there for isaiah - presumably in the Standalone profile - so that wouldn't seem to be a problem in this case.
