synch problem with deleted zotero welcome files

Cleaning out my unfiled items I deleted the Zotero welcome message(s). Now I am trying to synch my library on a new computer and I cannot resolve the conflict that I have created between the freshly downloaded zotero and the online database. I have tried all combinations of choosing to resolve to local existing files or the remote deleted files without luck. What should I do?
Thanks, Julia.

  • Hi Adam,

Thanks, but no luck. Here's the error report: 2093226597. Is there any way to restore the original messages to the online library?

  • Dan will take a look at this.
(@Dan - I believe I've said that before, it's a bit unfortunate that the welcome message causes sync conflicts as frequently as it does.)
  • Julia: Can you actually provide a Debug ID (rather than a Report ID) for a sync attempt that produces an error?
  • Hi Dan,

The Debug ID is D524700566. I don't know if this log captured the bug, if not, I'll reproduce the error (which is easy to do).

    Thanks,
    Julia
  • No, you have to reproduce it while debug output logging is running.
  • Ok.: The Debug ID is D1513840445.
  • Reread the instructions — you're still not logging the sync.
  • Ok. Hope this works. The Debug ID is D324194581.
  • I went through the synching process a couple of times using various combinations.

Sorry, but I really need just a single sync, and it has to be a manual sync. Go to the Sync pane of the preferences, disable auto-sync, go to the Advanced pane of the preferences, clear debug output, enable debug output, click the sync button in the Zotero toolbar, see the sync error icon, and then go back to the preferences and immediately submit the debug output.
  • The Debug ID is D303276353.

    Hi Dan,

I followed your directions exactly. Synch goes through the process twice before it generates an error message.

Thanks for your patience and your help.

  • Try again now.
  • Dear Dan,

    It worked perfectly!!

    Thank you very much.

  • OK, great. This was our bug — sorry for the trouble.
