Is it possible to italicize "In re" in title automatically?

Is it possible to have Zotero italicize "In re" in the title automatically? I think the answer is no, but wanted to make sure. (I could write a Word macro that will italicize all occurrences of "In re", but it will be one less thing for the user to remember if Zotero can italicize them right off the bat.)
  • That's not automation. It requires manual tagging. I think Word macro would be the way to go then.
  • we're not going to set that up automatically, no. But I'm not sure that fixing up the entries in Zotero isn't the better solution to this—you'd only have to do it once per item.

You can use the Abbreviation Filter for this, with the MLZ styles.

On a case citation, form="short" will apply the AF "abbreviation" (applying hints if no abbreviation has yet been registered). If you set form="short" on the full case name in CSL and add this line to the "title-phrases" segment of a hints file and import it, "In re" will come out in italics:
    "In re": "<i>In re</i>",

For the actual short form of the title, call "title-short" in CSL, which will draw its content from the "Short Title" field.
  • @fbennett,

That's a cool feature! Yes, I understand what you mean by the last sentence. It's the same kind of situation as AF vs. container-title-short that we discussed in the other thread.
