Zotero bookmarklet on Dolphin Browser + Ebsco

Hi,

I'm working on an Android tablet, and using Dolphin to search on Ebsco, Infotrac, PLoS.

Zotero bookmarklet works like a charm on PLoS, all PDF's are downloading.

On Infotrac, well, it doesn't exactly downloads the PDF's, but it does attaches the link and snapshot, so... great!

When it comes to Ebsco, bookmarklet behaves funny. From mobile version, it doesn't work at all. From desktop version of the page, translator starts... but instead of sending the PDF to Zotero Library or saving the link, it pops the file downloading dialog of Dolphin Browser.

It there anyway that this little but annoying problem can be fixed? I hope that some "config changes" may be a solution.

Thanks!!!

that's expected. The bookmarklet won't work on most mobile sites.

I'll see if I can replicate the other issue. Have you tried with a different browser on android?

    Thanks for answering!

Yes, I have, from the native browser. Same problem. In fact, it works better on Dolphin, as I have another Ebsco access (username & password, and length of the URL) that in native browser won't show any response to the javascript (I just get an translator-related error message).

On Opera for Android, I don't think there's a way to set the any bookmarks (just "quick access" links). I don't have any other browsers installed right now.

Yep. I tried again, just to be sure. I get a direct download to my sdcard instead of Zotero download, and that happens only with full-access items on Ebsco.

Mmm... that will be all full-access items. Ay, caramba/Oh, my, this is a problem for me! I have to search and read new articles primarily from this device.

I'd really appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks again!
  • Wow, wait - it's working!

Bookmarklet's not putting full-access files into Zotero library yet, but items with links are actually been saved from mobile site. Additionally, I'm not getting that annoying file-download prompt anymore.

Did you guys do something? If so... thank you very much!
  • I still don't understand what happened from the regular site, that should have worked, too but the mobile site is great, so I added support for that.
PDF download from EBSCO is likely not going to happen via the bookmarklet

Yeah, I see... but like you say, mobile version of Ebsco search engine is just great!!! No full site needed when working on Android... ; )

And for the PDF download, I figure that I can either: a) get used to manually download/upload the file or b) share it with Box or Dropbox to link it/to attach it later by using Zotfile extension.

Thank you so much, adamsmith, and thanks to you too, aurimas : )))

    Best regards.
