Style Error: [MLA]

Dates in CSL do not follow MLA format. According to the MLA, the format should look like this:

30 July 2001
22 Mar. 2008
3 Jan. 1994

Zotero produces: January 3, 1994

How can I change that?
  • dates where? All the ones I look at are in the correct format
  • These dates I took from the MLA Handbook:
    30 July 2001
    22 Mar. 2008
    3 Jan. 1994

However, Zotero produces the following format:
    July 30, 2001
    March 22, 2008
    Etc.

    Thank you!
  • but where do those dates appear? What's the full citation?
  • Those dates appear when trying to create a work-cited entry. For example, I get the following format when dragging the citation of an online article from Zotero and dropping it into a Word document:

Cortés, Carlos. “Primera entrega: Centroamérica sin traducciones (I),” January 21, 2013. .

Everything is perfect, except the date. Instead of January 21, 2013, it should read 21 Jan. 2013, according to MLA format.

Is this clearer? I apologize because I am new to Zotero, and don't know the correct terminology yet!
  • PS And I just realized that it does not include the date of access, which MLA requires we do. Thank you!
  • That's almost certainly not MLA style as produced by Zotero (which would also title case the article title and put the format at the end of the citation). The style for export via drag&drop needs to be set as the default export format in the Export tab of the Zotero preferences.

It also looks like the entry may be missing information - such as the publication title, so you'd want to verify that.
  • You are absolutely right! I have fixed the problem by following your advice. Thank you!
