Syncing tries for a long time and then fails cryptically

I seem to be having the same problem as here https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/33266/error-invalid-response-from-server-report-id-76763910/

Unfortunately that post did not have a solution that i can carry out. Thanks for any help.

    Progress! I have a lot of conflicts to resolve, but it looks like the core problem was resolved.

    Thanks - if there is something i should have done differently to avoid the problem, please let me know.
