restoring files from library to computer

I have a new computer and want to move the files from my library storage at Zotero to the computer. If I run the synch button, will that do the trick? Or will it upload my "empty" files from the new computer to the library online and wipe out my whole collection?

    I should add, I don't intend to destroy the files online in the library. I just want to use them as a source to essentially "restore" them to my new computer.

    yes. Sync will never delete any items or files that you haven't explicitly deleted in Zotero. Syncing with a new, empty library will populate it with the content of your library on the server.

    I think everything synched all right, but there was an error message. It said to report the number in the forums and explain the condition that generated it. The only thing I know to say about the condition is that I am trying to synch from my online library to my new computer. I am about to see if everything has come through all right.
