Trouble with initial sync (Report ID 696623091)

I've been trying to sync my Zotero account for the first time (I was invited to two groups whose citations I need to be able to see, and accepted the invitations). I've tried at various times of day in an effort to combat connectivity issues (two of the error messages I'm getting have to do with responses from the server), but continue to get error messages about either file syncing, an empty response from the server, or an invalid response from the server. It usually runs for 10 min. to several hours before giving me an error (I know it's supposed to take multiple hours due to the size of the libraries I'm trying to sync with). I've done a little bit of searching around but may be missing an already-posted solution, but thanks in advance for any help!
  • Addendum--I did shut down my computer and restart/tried this process on several different days.
  • An error about file syncing would be a good sign, actually, because that would mean you had gotten past data syncing. I don't think you have, though — I see repeated attempts to download all the data from the two huge groups you're in, 95MB in all. I'd give it another try off-hours (US time) if possible to see if that helps. Post here when you're trying and I can keep an eye on it.

    The next major version of Zotero will sync items in much smaller batches, which should help for initial syncs for people in huge libraries, but at the moment it tries to sync them all together. In a pinch you could leave one of the groups, sync, and then rejoin the other, but I'd wait before trying that.

  • Addendum--I wasn't able to try syncing last night, but this morning when I did, it worked! Hopefully that's an end to the issue.
