[SOLVED] Zotero firefox and standalone conflict - database locked
SOLVED, see later post
Hi everyone
I have Zotero standalone installed along with the Firefox version. When I run each one seperatlly everything is OK. But if standalone
is open the firefox version shows the following notification:
Your Zotero database is currently in use. Only one instance of Zotero using the same database may be opened simultaneously at this time. If Zotero Standalone is open, please close it and restart Firefox.
Both versions use the same Zotero directory but i know this is supposed to be OK.
I tried rebooting and also reinstalling everything, as suggested by similar posts but to no avail. Do you have any input?
Thanks in advance.

I should also mention that i am using windows 8.1 64
Btw, I tried having 2 seperate data directories and I obviously dont get the message but when I save to zotero, it is saved to firefox --> Web --> standalone. This takes sometime and, naturally, until this happens, I cannot use the citation from the standalone
By mere luck, i found the culprit. For some reason, it is the firewall. My rules allowed only outgoing connections, if I enable all, it works. I really do not know why, but it works.
Thanks for your efforts adamsmith
