Help to get to first base

HI
I am using MAC OS mountain lion
Just downloaded Zotero standalone.
I have also downloaded Firefox.
I don't see any connection between the two. i.e no icon in the address bar and no Zotero at the bottom of the page.
There is obviously some really basic thing I am missing.
Appreciate any help for this newbie
Gor
  • If you want to use Standalone with Firefox you also need to install the Firefox add-on.
  • Thank you adamsmith.

Actually I don't mind if I use firefox or others. It also does not display the icon in the address bar when I use safari. So how can I best use the standalone.

Perhaps, sticking with what I have, I would appreciate it if you could let me know how I can install the firefoxx add on.
    Thanks

  • For any of the supported browsers that you want to use, you need to install the appropriate connector. You can download all of them from http://www.zotero.org/download/ They are listed under the big Zotero Standalone button. (Opera connector is not listed, but is available from https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/zotero-connector/)
  • Thanks aurimas

    Done that.

    Still nothing.

What I am expecting to see if the book icon appear in my address bar or the word 'zotero' to appear somewhere as per the instructions.

Just to repeat. I have the Zotero application open.

    I have downloaded the connector.

Where do I go from here?

Should I uninstall Zotero and start again?

    Many thanks
  • don't uninstall anything. Which connector did you download and did you install it? If, e.g., you're using Firefox, you should see Zotero installed under "add-ons"
