Impossible to install the plugin word with firefox 26.

Is there an update coming soon?

Thank you.
  • Zotero works with Firefox 26 - what's the exact problem you're having?
  • i have the same problem, i can't install the plugin for word, the error message says that it's not available with firefox 26.0. What can I do please ?
  • where are you installing from? What's the exact message that you are getting?
  • (and just to confirm this again: Zotero and all current word processor plugins _are_ compatible with Firefox 26)
  • Good afternoon,
I have encountered the same problem. When I try to install the plugin, Firefox says :
"Zotero Word for Windows Integration could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 26.0".
Is there a solution to this issue?
    Thanks for your answer.
  • Installing from where? Which Word version? As I say above, Zotero's Word plugins are definitely compatible with Firefox 26 (they're all compatible through Firefox 28, to be precise).
  • Hello,
I am using Word 2010 - Professional version.
Tried to install the plugin via this link
    http://www.zotero.org/support/fr/word_processor_plugin_installation
and chose Word plugin for Windows.
But Firefox is telling me that it is not compatible. I could install the other plugins for firefox so i can't see why the word plugin can't work. However, i can admit that it may not be Zotero that is in cause, well who knows.
  • ah that explains it, thanks for helping to figure that out. Install from
    http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_installation

I don't think that page should exist and it's outdated.

@Dan/Simon - we should probably close the French installation page (which, as opposed to the English one is freely editable) for both security reasons and to avoid issues like this.
  • Many thanks, now it's working!
  • (I've updated the French installation page for the time being, but I still think it should be removed)
  • OK, removed and redirected to the English version. Thanks. (Sorry to Gracile and others who have localized that page — unfortunately there's just no way to keep that up-to-date across separate versions.)
  • i tried again today and it's working !!
    thanks
  • Well ,

I have problems installing it and I have to teach my college students how to use Zotero on Wednesday. So it MUST work.

I used the URL mentionned in a preceding post

ah that explains it, thanks for helping to figure that out. Install from
    http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_installation

But it still does not appear I see it in a list of downloads but nothing happens on Word. I have Firefox 26 and use Windows 8.1

and it is installed on. should I try to unzip it? It offers to use many apps to download from AppStore. but there is no mention of unzipping in your procedure.

    HELP!
  • so are you installing the add-on in Firefox? Does it show up installed under add-ons in Firefox?
    Don't unzip anything.
  • Thanks Adam, (it cannot be your real name!)

Zotero 4.0.17 appears in my Firefox 26 extensions (sorry if I mislead you with the terms: I use the french version)

But nothing appears in the Plugins list. I have a lot of plugins : photo gallery Silverlight, Adobe ACrobat 11, Google esrth but Zotero keeps hiding! I use Office 2013.
  • Oho oh I think I have a solution You asked if I ainstalled it in Firefox and I checked again. When i see it in a list of downloadings it apears in IE window. Stop searching I will try to correct it. You already helped me a lot.

    Ann
  • It worked!

    Thanks a lot, Adam Smith!

Sorry, I have the same problem. Installed the plug in from the page you mentioned above, firefox 27, word for mac 2008; the plug-in is installed, I have reinstalled it already but it still doesn't appear in the apple script menue. Do you have any idea?
    Dorothee
  • Make sure you have tried re-installing from within Zotero (via the Cite tab) if that doesn't work, see here:
    try this: http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#scripts_do_not_appear_in_word_20082011_or_are_incompatible
  • In fact I have the German version. I only had to tranfer the Zotero folder from the "English" Microsoft User Data folder to the "German" one. That was it. Many thanks
  • I have installed standalone from zotero's official page*. Then I tried (several times) to install firefox-addon (which is below the standalone download button**). It says "Zotero could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 26.0"

    Please help.

  • Zotero could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 26.0
Right, it's not. Firefox 26 is a year out of date and shouldn't be used. Install either the latest regular version (34) or the latest Extended Support Release version (31.3).

If you have further questions, please start a new thread, since this thread is old and about a different issue.

Zotero for Firefox requires a Firefox version that's still supported by Mozilla to run. Currently that is, at a minimum, the 31 ESR version. Recommended is Firefox 34. (edit: what Dan says).
