Trying to install zotero firefox

Hi,
I am trying to download zotero for firefox and have had a text box read:
"'Neither Word 2004 nor Word 2008 appear to be installed on this computer. Please install Microsoft Word, then try again.

so, I tried with safari and also the stand alone one and nothing is working! HEEEELP!

I do not have word but I have both NeoOffice and OpenOffice.
I have a MacBook Pro version 10.8.5....

That message isn't from Zotero itself — it's from Zotero's Word integration plugin, which if you're using Zotero for Firefox is something separate that you downloaded. If you don't have Word, uninstall the Zotero Word for Mac Integration extension from the Firefox Add-ons window.

(And if you want to use the OpenOffice plugin, install that instead.)

Hi Dan,
I just uninstalled it and put the Libre one from the link you provided but when Iʻm in NeoOffice, I don't see any Zotero options.....

Nor do I see that little icon on the browser box (is that what it's called) while in Firefox showing that Zotero is working so I can save the page to cite it later...

Just tried again. Removed all of it. Re-did and the code I get is: 955609448

Error. :(

I installed zotero on my last macbook pro without no probs.

"Installation could not be completed because an error occurred. Please ensure that LibreOffice/OpenOffice.org/NeoOffice is closed, and then restart Zotero."

I made sure that no programs were running or open this last attempt so I ? what this means
